I. Purpose
a. To offer a secure website environment for which parishioners and visitors can acquire
information regarding the ministries of the Roman Catholic Parishes of Dayton and Waitsburg
Washington, and to help protect the privacy of our parishioners and our parish children.
II. General Guidelines
a. All resources posted online should assist in the development of parish fellowship and
ministry in the Spokane Diocese and the Roman Catholic Parishes of Dayton and Waitsburg
Washington.
b. No subject matter should be posted which violates copyright and trademark laws, or subject
matter which can defame or slander another party.
c. The Parishes assume no responsibility for subject matter posted online which does not adhere
to the policies and guidelines set fourth under the authority of the Roman Catholic Parishes
of Dayton and Waitsburg Washington.
d. Special attention must be given when children's events are posted online to insure
their safety.
e. Websites maintained and operated by the Parishes will not offer advertising, with the
exception of hyperlinks we offer. These hyperlinks may lead to sites, which do contain
advertising. We believe these sites, not maintained or operated by the Parishes, can offer
support and information to parishioners and visitors.
f. These guidelines and policies will be available to parishioners and visitors via hyperlink
on the bottom of all web pages maintained and operated by the Parishes.
g. The Parish Council of the Roman Catholic Parishes of Dayton and Waitsburg Washington will
have final authority concerning the management of all websites maintained and operated by the
Parish. All decisions will be binding.
h. All illegal activity will be reported to the appropriate civil authority immediately.
i. Every effort will be made to provide safe downloadable script and material to
parishioner's and visitor's computers. The Parishes assume no liability concerning the use of
websites maintained and operated by the Parishes. We recommend all users have virus protection.
III. Protection of Church Community
a. Parishioner email addresses, Phone numbers, mailing addresses, and personal information will
not be published, except the email addresses of certain Parish Staff may be published.
b. Personal information, including email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses of minors
under the age of 16 will not be published, other than first name, or first initial and last name.
c. Personal information, including email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses of minors
between the ages of 16 and 17 will not be published, other than first and last name when not
accompanied by an image.
d. Any information concerning a minor will immediately be deleted upon a written or verbal
request from the child's parent or legal guardian.
IV. Posting Images of Minors
a. Images of minors under the age of 16 will not be posted on any websites maintained or
operated by the Parishes.
b. Images of minors between the ages of 16 and 17 will be permitted with parental or legal
guardian consent.
c. Pictures of four (4) or more minors between the ages of 16 and 17 will be permitted. Text
accompanying images should only reference the minor's first name
d. Any Image of a minor will immediately be deleted upon a written or verbal request from the
minor's parent or legal guardian.
V. Posting Images of Adults
a. Images of parishioners 18 years of age and older may be published absent agreement. Images
of adult parishioners may be accompanied with their first and last name.
VI. External Hyperlinks
a. The Roman Catholic Parishes of Dayton and Waitsburg Washington assume no liability for
content on websites hyperlinked from our websites, we employ no editorial control over such websites. Hyperlinks will open a new window to verify that the parishioner or visitor is leaving our website and entering a new website. Web pages with hyperlinks will post a disclaimer as follows: “The Roman Catholic Parishes of Dayton and Waitsburg Washington assume no responsibility, nor endorse the subject matter, or sponsor any organizations, of any website hyperlinked on our websites.”
